Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty at Young Americans for Liberty Summit in Atlanta Saturday April 22

This Saturday April 22nd, the national coordinator of CCATDP, Marc Hyden (a resident of Cobb County), will be discussing the growing conservative shift away from the death penalty at the Young Americans for Liberty regional summit in Atlanta.

It follows the recent launch of the state-based Georgia Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty.

Here is a video of the news conference that launched the group in Georgia in January. It’s very interesting to hear hard-core conservatives raising profound questions about the death penalty, which they seem to agree is not only Constitutional, but is not inherently immoral (which is my position as well) but is still worthy of deeper analysis…

The Georgia CCATDP is one of 11 state-based groups. Others are in Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Kansas, Utah, Montana, Washington, and Nebraska.

Here is the flyer about the event–if you’d like to learn more, come see them at the YAL summit; if you know someone else who might like it, pass it on!

Conservatives Question America’s Death Penalty

Saturday, April 22nd 9am-8pm at the Loudermilk Center in Atlanta

Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty, a national network of conservatives and libertarians questioning the alignment of capital punishment with their principles, will be exhibiting at the upcoming Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) Atlanta Spring Summit. It will take place on Saturday, April 22nd at the Loudermilk Center in Atlanta (more details below).

Hundreds of liberty-minded college students from across the southeast region are expected to attend the event.

Marc Hyden, the national advocacy coordinator of Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty and a resident of Cobb County, will be exhibiting at the summit and will also be available at the exhibitor’s area throughout the one-day summit.

“Conservatives and libertarians continue to reevaluate the death penalty,” Hyden said. “Pro-liberty lawmakers across the nation have been spearheading efforts to repeal the death penalty and they’ve joined conservative legislators in at least a dozen other states who have sponsored repeal bills during the previous two state legislative cycles.”

Young Americans for Liberty is a national strategic partner of Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty. Former Republican presidential candidate and Texas Congressman Ron Paul has endorsed the organization, along with YAL founder Jeff Frazee.

The day’s events will take place from 9:00am – 8:00pm in the Loudermilk Center located at 40 Courtland Street NE in Atlanta.
